Clever Confidence Hacks for Coaches

How often do you let your anxiety and “imposter syndrome” tear you down?

For sensitive, creative people, it happens more than you might think. Maybe you popped into the help desk and saw a complaint about your latest webinar. Or perhaps a client you worked hard for has called it quits…just when she was on the verge of a breakthrough. Or you might just be having an off day.

It happens.

But top-earning coaches know the secrets for keeping these confidence killers at bay.

Embrace Your Expertise & Worth

For a lot of people, the biggest confidence problem is that they simply cannot appreciate their own worth. If you find yourself saying (or thinking) things like, “Oh, it was nothing,” or “anyone can do the same thing,” then you may be subconsciously diminishing your own value.

It’s time to recognize and embrace the skills and knowledge you have. Remember, you are the expert in your niche, and you’ve earned the right to call yourself one.

Keep and Review a “Yay, Me!” File

If you struggle with the title “expert” it’s time to start a file of your accomplishments. Start a new Evernote notebook or Dropbox folder, and stash away those notes of thanks from clients, great book reviews, glowing testimonials, and even comments on your blog.

When you’re feeling down (or even when you’re not) take out your file and review your personal greatness. Nothing boosts your confidence and puts those anxious thoughts away quite like reading through a year’s worth of praise from happy clients.

Act Like a Winner, Even When You Don’t Feel Like One

You’ve heard the phrase “dress for success”?

Well it works when you’re self employed, too. Rather than slouching into your office in your hoodie and pajama bottoms every day, take the time to dress, do your hair and put some makeup on. The difference you feel in your energy and confidence might just surprise you.

And trust us when we say, it will show in your writing and speaking, too.

Keep Your Skills Up-to-Date

It’s easy to let the day-to-day work take you out of learning mode, but to keep your confidence up, it’s important to continually improve your skills.

That doesn’t mean you have to become a professional student, but do…

  • Attend industry conferences
  • Join a mastermind group
  • Buy courses and attend webinars
  • Try new strategies in your business

Just be sure you don’t spend so much time studying that you have no time left to implement what you’ve learned.

Here’s Where Confidence Really Pays Off…

For a lot of coaches, the next logical step in their career is to take the stage, whether in front of a live group or on a virtual webinar. If the thought of stepping up to the mic makes you break out in a cold sweat, our new Teach Your Tribe kit is the answer.

Plus, like all our Teach Your Tribe kits, this one is designed for you to turn it into your own product. All it takes is a quick rebrand to add your own style and content, then set up your webinar (we’ve even make the slide deck for you) and offer it to your clients.

It’s an easy way for both you and your clients to learn the confidence secrets today’s top speakers use every day.
